How to use ServiceTool V2000.exe to reset your Canon printer
Once you have entered service mode on your Canon printer, you can use ServiceTool V2000.exe to perform various maintenance operations. Here are some of the most common and useful operations that you can do with ServiceTool V2000.exe:
Resetting the ink absorber counter
The ink absorber is a sponge-like component that absorbs the excess ink that is used during printing, cleaning, and alignment. Over time, the ink absorber becomes full and needs to be replaced. When this happens, the printer will display an error message such as "Ink absorber is full" or "Ink absorber almost full". To fix this problem, you need to reset the ink absorber counter using ServiceTool V2000.exe. To do that, follow these steps:
Make sure your printer is in service mode and connected to your computer.
Run ServiceTool V2000.exe as an administrator.
Click on the Clear Ink Counter tab.
Select either Main or Platen depending on which ink absorber you want to reset. The Main ink absorber is located under the print head and the Platen ink absorber is located at the bottom of the printer. Usually, you need to reset both of them.
Click on the Set button next to the option you selected.
The program will display a message saying "Clearing Ink Counter". Wait until it finishes.
The program will display a message saying "Ink Counter has been cleared". Click on OK.
Turn off your printer and disconnect it from the power source.
Reconnect the power cord and turn on your printer. The error message should be gone.
Note: Resetting the ink absorber counter does not physically remove the ink from the ink absorber. You still need to replace the ink absorber when it becomes full. Otherwise, the ink may leak from the printer and damage it. You can find instructions on how to replace the ink absorber online or contact a Canon service center for assistance.
Printing test pages
You can use ServiceTool V2000.exe to print test pages to check the quality and alignment of your print head. To do that, follow these steps:

Click on the Main tab.
Select either Nozzle Check or Nozzle Check Pattern depending on which test page you want to print. The Nozzle Check prints a simple grid of dots that shows if any of the nozzles are clogged or misaligned. The Nozzle Check Pattern prints a more detailed pattern that shows the color quality and density of each nozzle.
Click on the Print button next to the option you selected.
The program will display a message saying "Printing Test Page". Wait until it finishes.
The program will display a message saying "Test Page has been printed". Click on OK.
Check the test page for any defects or errors. If you see any, you may need to clean or align your print head using ServiceTool V2000.exe or your printer's settings menu.

You can use ServiceTool V2000.exe to change the region code of your printer. The region code determines which type of cartridges your printer can use. For example, if your printer has a region code of 1, it can only use cartridges that are compatible with region 1, such as PGI-520 and CLI-521. If you want to use cartridges that are compatible with a different region, such as PGI-220 and CLI-221, you need to change the region code of your printer using ServiceTool V2000.exe.
